All my life I have thought of myself as the fat one. I was over 90 kg as a 5 foot teenager – well, it wasn’t kilos then, but you get the picture! As an adult, I crept up to 113 kg by 2019. I guess a career that required me to sit and think rather than move around a lot didn’t help. Despite all that, weirdly I’ve always enjoyed running, even though that became kida hard work.
Work pressures led me to retire a bit early in January 2020, and having the time to run a lot more has been brilliant. At the same time a chiropractor suggested I joined Pinnacle in late 2019, and together this has changed my life. I returned to working 3 days a week, but now have a routine of running loads and going to the gym 3 times a week.
The help and advice from Dan and Andy has changed my life completely. I’ve lost 22kg, I run faster and further – done one marathon and regularly run 10 to 20 miles – and for the first time I feel really good about my physical self – fitter, stronger and ready to enjoy my retirement with my husband. I love the positive comments I get from him and from friends and colleagues who knew me as the one who liked his food but was always so terribly overweight!
Just goes to show that it’s never too late to start being more active, not even at 65. I don’t say much of this to Dan & Andy – wouldn’t want to get boring about it – but I genuinely cannot thank them enough for their constant positive help and encouragement. I feel like a new man – but quite happy with the one I’ve got!
